The Top 100 Best Places To Work For In The United States
With over 55 million company reviews from employees, Glassdoor is one of the world’s largest jobs and recruiting platform. The California headquartered company recently announced the winners of its 12th annual Employees’ Choice Awards. The final result was a ranking of the Best Places To Work In 2020 across the US and 8 other countries.
Contrary to other workplace awards, Glassdoor’s Awards are the result of the anonymous online feedback employees (or former employees) give of company they work (or have worked) for. Although this feedback aims primarily at helping people everywhere find a job and a company they love (Glassdoor’s mission) it can also be sorted out as a ranking.
Employees evaluated their companies’ attributes such as compensation, work-life balance, leadership, culture or career opportunities over the last year. They also shared their opinion regarding the pros and cons of working for their companies, let advice to the management and rated their CEOs and their overall satisfaction with their employers. As a result, Glassdoor’s Economic Research team found the winners of the best places to work for in 2020.
These winners are rated on a 5-point scale based on their overall ranking. The more points companies got, the more employees are satisfied with their jobs and employers. Out of curiosity, between over one million employers reviewed on Glassdoor, the average company rating is 3.5.

Best Companies To Work: The Value Of Having A Great Culture
There are several reasons why, more than showing up on rankings like this one, having a truly enjoyable workplace and a culture where employees feel valued and appreciate is important.
One of them is that it attracts the top talent as top candidates are only willing to share their great value in a place where they enjoy working. Besides attracting talent, a great place to work also decreases turnover and increases retention. Employees feel more engaged, committed, and happy overall – which results in a stronger culture and a better individual and collective performances.
According to Dr. Chamberlain, Chief Economist at Glassdoor, people care deeply about where they work and organizations with exceptional cultures, apart from the competitive advantage to attract talent, often overrun their peers with better financial performances. That’s why, he said, culture is one of the smartest long-term investments companies can make.
But this workplace culture management isn’t just about giving employees fruit, snacks, consoles or out-of-the-box perks. As the CEO of Glassdoor puts it, being a top company to work at is also about aligning employees’ expectations with an organization’s mission. It’s about delivering the promise of creating a positive impact and continuously improving opportunities for employees to learn and grow.
