With over 55 million company reviews from employees, Glassdoor is one of the world’s largest jobs and recruiting platform. The California headquartered company recently announced the winners of its 12th annual Employees’ Choice Awards. The final result was a ranking of the Best Places To Work In 2020 across the US and 8 other countries.
Contrary to other workplace awards, Glassdoor’s Awards are the result of the anonymous online feedback employees (or former employees) give of company they work (or have worked) for. Although this feedback aims primarily at helping people everywhere find a job and a company they love (Glassdoor’s mission) it can also be sorted out as a ranking.
Employees evaluated their companies’ attributes such as compensation, work-life balance, leadership, culture or career opportunities over the last year. They also shared their opinion regarding the pros and cons of working for their companies, let advice to the management and rated their CEOs and their overall satisfaction with their employers. As a result, Glassdoor’s Economic Research team found the winners of the best places to work for in 2020.
These winners are rated on a 5-point scale based on their overall ranking. The more points companies got, the more employees are satisfied with their jobs and employers. Out of curiosity, between over one million employers reviewed on Glassdoor, the average company rating is 3.5.

Glassdoor’s 100 Best Places to Work For In 2020 in the US ranking includes employers from a broad range of different industries. These include tech, retail, travel, tourism, healthcare, consulting or finance, among others – all of which you find here. Meanwhile, the top 10 (large) best places to work for in the U.S. in 2020 are:

An Overview Of The Best Companies To Work For In 2020 In the U.S.
As we can see at the list above, HubSpot, a cloud-computing software company, got the No. 1 ranking (for the first time, with a 4.6/5 score) while DocuSign and Ultimate Software, other tech companies, remained 3rd and 8th, respectively.
The remaining companies that make up the raking of the best companies to work for represent different sectors. Bain & Company (2nd) is a consultancy company, In-N-Out is a fast-food chain, Sammons Financial Group operates mostly with insurances and the Lawrence Laboratory is a federal research facility. The 9th and 10th positions go belong to VIPKid, an online teaching company, and to Southwest arilines, respectively.
Going from the 10 to the 100 best to work at, there are 31 newcomers, according to Glassdoor. These include SurveyMonkey (33th), Slack (69th), Allegiant Travel (73th) or Fidelity Investments (88th). Moreover, 15 employers are rejoining the list in 2020 after failing to make it on the year before. Some of the most iconic brands returning are the Mayo Clinic (24th), Hilton (92th) or Intel (100th).
Best Companies To Work For: An Overview Of The Tech Industry
If we consider the full ranking with the 10 best places to work for in 2020 in the U.S., the top 10 is ruled by tech companies. However, other sounding names from the tech industry make up the larger list of the 100 best places to work in America.
Google and Linkedin show up right after the top 10 in the 11th and 12th positions respectively. Others, like NVIDIA (20th), Microsoft (21th), Facebook (23th), Salesforce (34th), SAP (48th), Dell (67th), Cisco (77th) or Apple (84th) show up further ahead in the ranking.
Moreover, according to Glassdoor, Google and Apple are 2 of the 3 companies (with Bain & Company) that have made the list of the Best Places to Work since its launch 12 years ago.
